National Holidays Saw A 70 Percent Reduction In Waste In The Streets

In all areas of the municipality's governorate branches, highways and general hygiene departments conducted extensive cleaning campaigns.

The number of garbage gathered from the streets has drop by 70 percent in comparison to previous years, according to Al-Rai, the director of the Hawally Municipality Branch's Dept. of Cleanliness and Road Works. Among other things, he noted that the region beginning with the Third Ring Road up to the Messila Bridge had been thoroughly cleaned, as well as the green areas, such as parking lots, celebration venues, and streets overlooking the Gulf.

Additionally, 600 bags of mixed waste were removed by the administration and 2,000 extra garbage bags were provided, as well as five bulldozers of various sizes, two small bulldozers, four trailers, four forklifts, and 300 manual sweepers.

Fahad Al-Qarifa, the director of cleanliness and roads works at the Jahra municipality branch of the Dept. of Cleanliness and Roads Works, told Al-Rai that a division plan has been drafted for the governorate's regions.

Three cleaning companies also participated in the cleaning campaign, which was conducted in the outskirts, open areas, and farms. It was noted that 700 garbage bags filled with waste were collected in the area along with 1,200 bags in Sulaibiya and 900 from the camp site at spring time.

Similarly, Nawaf Al-Mutairi, Director of the Mubarak Al-Kabeer Municipality Department of Hygiene and Road Works, told Al-Rai that 200 bags had been removed from green spaces, parking lots, and celebration venues, and 100 sweepers were provided.
