Municipal Council Is Studying Plan To Set Up Nurseries For Female Staff Kids

Member of the Municipal Council, Eng Maha Al-Baghli, said the Municipal Council held a special workshop to discuss the issue of nurseries for children at work centers and government departments and the issue will also be discussed during a major session of the Municipal Council for a vote after taking into account the technicality and legality, suitable for all concerned parties, in order to facilitate the implementation of this proposal.

Eng Al-Baghli said a press statement, the proposal to amend the municipality’s regulations to allow the establishment of nurseries for children at work centers if the number of female employees exceeds 50 or the number of employees in the establishment exceeds 200. She explained the proposal came to support the idea of women staying on top of their work, achieving the principle of equality and equal opportunities in the workplace, and promoting family stability and child safety.

A number of women’s public benefit associations participated in this workshop, including the Women’s Cultural Association, the National Association for Family Security, the Business and Professional Women’s Network, the ‘Surptmist’ Society for Community Development, the ‘Birth Kuwait’ Association, and among government agencies, the Ministry of Social Affairs, the Ministry of Planning, and the Kuwait Municipality.

Al-Baghli said, “We discussed the details of this proposal and how to implement it on the ground in terms of technical and legislative terms, and whether it needs a change in the building regulation or a legislative amendment in the list of nurseries in the Ministry of Social Affairs, as we also discussed the idea of adding a commercial activity for nurseries to the commercial activities in the Ministry of Commerce.
