Mp Threatened To Grill Defense Minister About Women Entry In Military
MP Mohammad Hayef Al- Mutairi has threatened to grill Defense Minister Sheikh Nasser Sabah Al-Ahmad if women are allowed to enter the military.
On his Twitter account, Al-Mutairi asserted: “Our identity is a red line that nobody should cross. We do not accept alienation of our society. Women have no place in military institutions. They had earlier been allowed to play a minimal role such as inspecting women at the borders and places frequented by women, taking into account their privacy as Muslims.”
Meanwhile, Foreign Affairs Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah responded to the query of MP Waleed Al-Tabtabaei about expatriates going on official missions; saying the Foreign Affairs Ministry sent several delegations for official missions outside the country — 670 missions to 89 countries.
He explained that these tasks are specific to Kuwaiti Fund for Arab including meetings and visiting project sites for follow up and evaluation. He disclosed the highest number of missions carried out by an expatriate was 152 missions to 65 countries, while the lowest is three.
Furthermore, the parliamentary Business Improvement Committee discussed Thursday the proposal to amend the Small Enterprise Fund Law. Committee member MP Ahmed Nabil Al-Fadel confirmed that the study on the amendment will be completed soon. He pointed out there are neglected sectors in the local artisan market such as carpentry among others.
He also stressed the need to give Kuwaitis and Bedouns the opportunity to work in these sectors, such that money does not go out of the country. On another issue, MP Adel Al-Damkhi has forwarded questions to Minister of Information Mohammed Al-Jabri about the Grand Zoo project. He said the country is keen on developing the tourism sector through the improvement and establishment of recreational and cultural facilities, considering that entertainment has become a basic requirement for attracting families.
He added the plans of the Public Authority for Agricultural Affairs and Fish Resources (PAAAFR) since 2008 include the establishment of the Grand Zoo. He wants to know the timetable for the study, design and implementation of the Grand Zoo along with the cost of each stage of the project. He also asked about the location of the zoo, obstacles to the implementation of the project if any, date of completion and date of opening the zoo.
