Mp Faisal Al-duwaisan Questions Dna Sampling
MP Faisal Al-Duwaisan has forwarded queries to Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Mohammad Khaled Al-Sabah regarding the implementation of the DNA Testing Law; which requires all citizens, residents and visitors to submit their DNA samples. He said the National Assembly passed the law on July 1, 2015 and the ministry must enforce it upon issuance of the executive regulations that were adopted by the Council of Ministers on April 25, 2016.
He asked if the ministry has established a database for storing the DNA samples as stipulated in Article Two of the law. He wants to know if such information is included in the passports of citizens. He also inquired about the number of DNA samples stored since the implementation of the law till date Meanwhile, MP Abdullah Al-Turaiji submitted questions to Finance Minister Anas Al-Saleh on the alleged violations of the Kuwait Investment Office in London.
He explained that a newspaper had earlier published a report on the Cabinet meeting and a press statement about the neutral investigation committee formed by Al-Saleh to look into the violations mentioned in the report of the Parliamentary Investigation and Public Fund Protection committees on the situation of the Kuwait Investment Office in London and other offices.
The neutral committee concluded that there is no reason to refer any of the officials of Kuwait Investment Authority to the Public Prosecution as the violations are administrative in nature and they can be addressed easily by taking new procedures. He wants to know when the neutral committee was formed, its chairman and members, their functions and decisions taken.
He also requested for copies of the minutes of the committee meetings, results of investigations, and reports presented to the Cabinet. He asked if the committee reviewed the reports and its recommendations in this regard, and if the Parliament speaker has been informed about the investigation results.
Furthermore, MP Saleh Ashour claimed the complaints against the social care homes across the country continue, while the recommendations presented to Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Hind Al-Sabeeh in her last interpellation have yet to be implemented. He disclosed the violations include decreasing the allowance allocated for Kuwaiti orphans, poor quality of food and failure to distribute the Eid Al-Fitr Amiri grant.
He asserted the Amiri Diwan should know that certain social categories have been exempted from the Amiri grant, indicating this is unacceptable because the grant came from His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah who cares for all those who are in need, including those in social care home.
