Mp's Committee Intends To Visit The Central Prison
The parliamentary Human Rights Committee on Thursday met for the first time after its formation during the National Assembly session last Tuesday.
According to Committee Chairman MP Adel Al-Damkhi, the panel members agreed to review all previous laws and decisions on human rights to ensure there are no loopholes. He added the committee intends to visit the Central Prison next week, affirming they will prepare periodic reports on the human rights situation in Kuwait in cooperation with all concerned authorities.
Furthermore, Rapporteur of Youth and Sports Committee MP Ahmed Nabil Al-Fadel disclosed they will look into the constitutionality of contacts with international bodies in a bid to lift suspension on Kuwaiti sports as per its plan to amend the Sports Law On the privatization of sports clubs, Al-Fadel confirmed this step is in accordance with the Constitution, particularly since the owner of the team will shoulder its expenses without the interference of the government.
He added the committee will invite Minister of Youths and Information Sheikh Salman Al-Hamoud to know the government’s plans in relation to the call for lifting suspension on Kuwaiti sports. He went on to say the committee elected MP Sadoun Hammad Al-Otaibi as its chairman with MPs Ahmed Al-Fadel, Khalil Aboul, Abdul Wahab Al-Babtain and Al-Humaidi Al-Subaie as members.
