MOI Officer Gets 10 Years In Jail For Shooting A Colleague

The Court of Cassation upheld the verdict issued by a lower court which sentenced a corporal officer of the Ministry of Interior to ten-year imprisonment after he was convicted of shooting his colleague at the Nuwaiseeb Port due to a work dispute, and also ordered his dismissal from his job. According to the case file, the victim was at his workplace where a verbal altercation occurred between him and the accused, during which the latter pulled out his gun and shot the victim, wounding him. The victim was then taken to the hospital for treatment. Earlier, the Criminal Court had issued a ruling to sentence the accused to ten-year imprisonment with hard labor, and order his removal from his job after carrying out the sentence.
