Dr. Khaled Al-Saeed, the Minister of Health, was accompanied by Dr. Mustafa Reda, the Undersecretary, at the Labor Examination Center in Shuwaikh to inspect the progress of the work under the direction of Dr. Muhammad Al-Saeedan.

A source told a local Arabic daily that new regulations have been introduced to benefit citizens and expatriates at the employment assessment centers, including Shuwaikh, Sabhan, Jahra and Ali Sabah Al-Salem suburb.

According to informed sources to "Al-Rai," next week will see a tangible breakthrough in reducing the overcrowding of labor examination centers through 5 steps that the Ministry of Health is working on in coordination with the state authorities.

According to the sources, domestic workers along with their Kuwaiti sponsors will be received by the centers during the morning period from 7:30 am to 1 pm, while expatriate workers will be received by the centers between 1 pm and 8 pm.Every person who visits these centers, however, must make an appointment.

According to the sources, work is underway to open a new labor examination center in the fairgrounds in coordination with state authorities, which aims to receive about 500 to 700 cases per day, thus increasing the capacity of labor examination to about 3,500 to 3,700 cases per day.

The outbreak of Corona pandemic, the number of daily transactions for labor examination has increased to about 3,000 daily through four centers, up from about 1,600 cases before, resulting in a 180 percent increase of capacity over two periods.

The following five steps are meant to alleviate pressure and make transactions easier, especially with the doubling of the number of employees - starting the implementation of new regulatory procedures today, creating a new center in Mishref soon, preparing other centers, increasing the capacity of the existing centers, and using support laboratories in some hospitals.

Additionally, five regulatory measures were implemented - a morning shift for domestic workers with prior reservation; an evening shift for the rest of the work force according to pre-booked dates; a reduction in the time for showing laboratory results to only one week; and limiting the number of transactions per day to 4,000.
