Moh Studying Possibility Of Stopping Non-emergency Surgeries

With the increase in infection rates and clinical occupancy in hospital wards and intensive care units designated for ‘Covid-19’, health sources said there are more than one option in front of the Ministry of Health officials to optimally deal with the situation given the fact more infected people may require hospitalization and one of the options is to stop non-emergency surgeries in government hospitals.

Al-Qabas quoting sources said stopping non-emergency operations is possible in light of the reopening of some wards and hospital care units, to treat infected people.

The Ministry of Health had issued a circular to stop non-emergency and non-urgent surgeries in public hospitals on February 14, 2021, before resuming at a later time.

Regarding the number of third dose recipients of anti-Covid 19 vaccines, the sources indicated the number has exceed 720,000 citizens and residents, in addition to 3,252,071 people who received the two doses, at a rate of 82.92% of the total population eligible for vaccinations, and stressed on the need to initiate the booster dose to reduce the rates of infected cases that require admission to public hospitals.
