Misdemeanor Court Upheld The First Instance Court Verdict

14 February 2017 Crime News

The Misdemeanor Court upheld the First Instance Court verdict that acquitted two attorneys of law Al-Khorafi and Ibrahim Al-Kandari of insulting members of the ruling family Sheikh Dhari, Khaled and Athbi Al-Fahad respectively in an altercation that happened between the defendant and the plaintiffs at Justice Palace. The court refrained from issuing its verdict against Sheikhs Athbi, Khaled and Dhari Al-Fahad, and Suleiman Khalifa, although it obliged them to sign an undertaking to be of good conduct for two years. They were fined KD 1,000 each for the insult and assault charges leveled against them, and for preventing the two lawyers, Al-Khorafi and Al-Kandari, from performing their duties. The court also ordered payment of temporary compensation of KD 5,001 to the two lawyers, and obliged Ajeel Al-Shaheen to pay a sum of KD 5,001 in temporary civil compensation to Sheikh Athbi Al-Fahad.
