Ministry Considers Retirement For 496 Long-serving Employees

The Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy currently has 496 employees with tenures over 30 years across various sectors. The ministry has compiled a list of employees who have completed 32 years of service or more, anticipating their referral to retirement pending approval from the Minister of Electricity and Water. The ministry will not refer any employee under 55 years old who has over 32 years of service and has not yet reached retirement age. The decision to initiate retirement proceedings for qualifying employees is expected to be signed by the end of this month. In order to determine whether these employees are eligible for retirement pensions, the ministry sought information from the Social Insurance Corporation and the Civil Service Commission.

The Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy's workers' association is staging a sit-in today to advocate for the approval of allowances for employees.
