Mew Floats Tender For 500,000 Smart Water, Power Meters In Second Phase
The Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy said the ministry has addressed the Ministry of Finance and the Fatwa and Legislation Department to obtain the necessary approvals for the tender for smart electricity and water meters for the second phase.
The sources said the second phase will include the supply and installation of 200,000 electricity meters and 300,000 water meters that were included in the tender for smart water meters that had been canceled, indicating that the ministry represented by the team supervising the tender has gained considerable experience in the issue of preparing documents for the tender that will be fl oated soon. The sources explained that the meters of the first phase will be allocated to the investment and commercial sectors and will be distributed in all governorates.
The sources indicated the ministry aims to supply 800,000 electricity meters in several stages to cover all sectors in the future. On the other hand, the Central Agency for Public Tenders (CAPT) has approved the ministry’s request to fl oat 3 tenders for the companies which are registered with the agency for the supply of longitudinal connections for a single-block oil cable and a tender for maintenance work for the secondary transfer stations in the Ahmadi Governorate and the replacement of 132 kV circuit breakers and its accessories at Al-Shuyoukh power generation and water distillation plant. The sources indicated the three tenders come within the framework of the ministry’s annual program to conduct the necessary maintenance of its facilities in order to develop, modernize and raise its efficiency to bear the burdens, especially during the summer season when the demand for electric power increases due to the high temperature.
In the context, the ministry has obtained a direct contract to repair 3 transmission stations in the Sabah Al-Ahmad marine area for a total of 720,000 dinars for a period of eight months as part of its plan to modernize, develop and raise the efficiency of the main stations responsible for supplying electricity from the production stations to the secondary transfer stations that supply power for homes.
