Mew Decided To Block The Transactions Of Landlords Who Don’t Pay Dues
As an alternative solution to deal with landlords of investment and commercial buildings who failed to pay maintenance fees, Ministry of Electricity and Water has decided to block the transactions of such landlords until they settle the financial dues they owe to the ministry.
They explained that the ministry will deal with such landlords like the way it deals with the contracting companies that cause damages to power cables while carrying out their contracting work.
The ministry blocks the clients’ accounts until the costs incurred by the ministry in repairing the damages are paid. Power supply to one of the buildings in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh was disconnected due to its landlord’s failure to settle the dues that he owes the ministry.
However, the ministry, on humanitarian grounds, reinstated the power supply, and alternatively blocked the account of the landlord such that he cannot obtain clearance or transact without paying the money that the ministry spent to fix the damages caused by him.
Also, the sources warned about the extra power load resulting from violations in buildings and the addition of housing without requesting an increase in power load, which leads to melting of the cables, adding that this is in violation of the law and also endangers the lives of people.
