Man Fatally Attacks Father-in-law After Setting Wife On Fire
A man in Uttar Pradesh's Hamirpur district carried out a tragic attack, setting his estranged wife on fire, fatally bludgeoning his father-in-law, and ultimately taking his own life with a pistol made in the country. Diksha Sharma, SP Hamirpur, said the couple had been separated for nearly two months, and the wife lived apart with their three children. It was identified that the victims were Anusuiya (39), her father Nandlal (60), and her husband Om Prakash Rajput (42). Her eldest daughter, aware of the strained relationship, revealed that her mother had moved out and filed an FIR against Om Prakash for a previous assault in Pathanpura.
She was living with her children in a separate room at her father's under-construction house in Lodhipura of the Muskura police area at the time of the incident. Om Prakash forcibly entered the house, attacking his wife and setting her on fire. Nandlal, attempting to intervene, tragically lost his life when Om Prakash attacked him with a stone. The daughter managed to save the two minor children despite her attempt to strangle them and immediately called the police at 112.
Ratan Lal Varma, a teacher and friend of Om Prakash, suffered injuries while trying to protect Anusuiya and Nandlal. Om Prakash had sent Varma to negotiate a compromise with his wife, and he stayed overnight after visiting the family. In recounting the horrifying incident, Varma said, "He went crazy, and I tried to save Anusuiya but couldn't." My only option was to run from the house and seek medical attention. Last month, Om Prakash assaulted Anusuiya and the children, leading to the filing of an FIR. In the course of investigating this tragic incident, the police have sent the bodies for autopsy.
