11 August 2022 Kuwait

The Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy is evaluating six bids filed by specialist technical businesses to replace street lighting with LED light poles in various parts of Kuwait as part of its consumption reduction policy.

According to a local Arabic daily, the ministry claimed to have carried out numerous studies on rationalizing consumption, including tenders to replace sodium street lighting bulbs with LED ones after the latter proved their durability and strength in addition to the efficiency they provide for street lighting, which coincides with energy savings.

According to the sources, after being installed in places like Al-Raqqa and Hadiya, the effectiveness of these lamps was examined. It was discovered that they could save roughly 70% of the energy used by sodium lamps, which made the Ministry eager to complete projects to replace incandescent lighting in various governorates with LED lighting.
