Kuwaitis Remember The 33rd Anniversary Of The Liberation Of Their Country
Every February 26, Kuwaitis come together to commemorate the liberation of their beloved country from the grips of the Iraqi invasion. This day serves as a poignant reminder of the courage and resilience displayed under the guidance of their wise leadership, restoring security, sovereignty, and freedom to their land.
The echoes of victory reverberate through the memories of Kuwaitis, recalling the triumphant chants of "God is great, God is great" as Operation Desert Storm unfolded, marking a pivotal moment in regional history.
This anniversary is an opportunity for Kuwait to reflect on the tireless efforts of leaders such as the late Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and the late Crown Prince and Prime Minister Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah. Their diplomatic endeavors garnered vital Arab and international support, defending Kuwait's legitimacy and rights.
The solidarity extended by the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, alongside the unwavering support of the late US President George H.W. Bush, underscored a collective commitment to Kuwait's freedom and independence.
The sacrifices of Kuwait's martyrs, who shed their blood during the invasion, are solemnly remembered, alongside the contributions of brotherly and friendly nations in the liberation efforts.
Amidst the invasion, Kuwaitis from all walks of life united in resistance. Men and women alike joined the cause, with some taking up arms while others provided invaluable support to the popular resistance movement.
The Kuwaiti government's unwavering support for its people and the coordinated efforts between governmental and civilian agencies exemplified a remarkable bond between leadership and citizens.
As military operations commenced on January 17, 1991, Kuwaitis stood ready to contribute to the liberation effort. Complete coordination between the Kuwaiti Air Force, Army, and allied forces ensured a swift and decisive victory.
Despite the devastation wrought by the invasion, Kuwait extended aid to the Iraqi people, demonstrating a commitment to regional stability and reconciliation.
On the diplomatic front, the late Emir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah's visit to Iraq in 2019 epitomized efforts to foster fraternal relations and address outstanding issues.
The injustice endured by Kuwait serves as a somber reminder of the resilience and unity ingrained in its history, inspiring future generations to uphold the nation's values and honor its enduring legacy.
