Kuwaiti Woman Detained In Funds Scam

24 August 2016 Crime News

An unidentified female Kuwaiti employee of Kuwait’s Washington Health Office is held at the Central Prison for 21 days after she was allegedly found guilty of ‘wasting’ public money. Minister of Health Dr Ali Al-Obeidi had in December 2015 issued a decision to refer several employees including the female employee to the Public Prosecution on suspicion of embezzling public money.

A few months ago when the female employee sensed trouble she attempted to escape from the United States but she was promptly detained by the FBI before she could board a plane in Washington.

The Public Prosecution in Kuwait then issued an arrest warrant against this employee and charged her with embezzling and wasting public money. She was taken into custody when she arrived at the Kuwait International Airport last Thursday and referred to the General Department for Interrogations. She was interrogated by the Prosecution for three consecutive days before sending her to the Central Prison for a 21-day detention period.
