Kuwaiti Wins Airline Comp – Luggage Lost On Alaska Way
The Civil Circuit of the Court of Appeals ordered an international airline to pay KD 1,870 to a Kuwaiti citizen as compensation for the delay in delivering his luggage at Alaska Airport, as he was forced to buy a new set of winter clothes due to the severe cold weather in that country.
According to the plaintiff counsel Lawyer Nasser Al-Bashir, his client bought an air ticket for the trip to Alaska, but the flight was delayed by one day in Abu Dhabi. Although he had an appointment in Alaska, he agreed to change the route through Manchester to New York.
Upon arrival at New York, he realized that his luggage was missing, and was forced to travel to his final destination without his luggage since he had to take the connecting flight in less than an hour. This forced him to buy a new set of clothes because of the extremely cold weather in that country. He supported his argument with Article 209 of the trade law.
