Kuwaiti Courts Handle 2,460 Security And Court Cases Daily
During the first nine months of this year, the General Administration of Enforcement collected over 45 million dinars through the electronic justice portal, according to a recent report by the Ministry of Justice's Information Technology and Statistics Sector. This collection encompassed various payments including expenses, rents, travel ban orders, and partial payments, reports Al-Rai daily.
From January to September 2023, approximately 5 million dinars were collected per month on average. Rent collections by the ministry constituted the highest numerical value at around 24 million dinars, followed by miscellaneous expenses which exceeded 16 million dinars. Approximately 2.2 million dinars were collected from travel ban orders and the “partial payment” clause.
The Ministry's High Court recorded 664,990 cases during the same period, including felonies and misdemeanors. Over 431,000 traffic violations were recorded, followed by more than 189,000 cases of "appelled misdemeanors". There were approximately 4.9 thousand passport misdemeanors, 4.8 thousand traffic misdemeanors, 8.7 thousand ordinary misdemeanors, and 4.6 thousand commercial misdemeanors.
For the same period, the total number of complaints and cases registered with Public Prosecution agencies reached 37.4 thousand. About 5.4 thousand complaints and cases were filed by the Commercial Affairs Prosecution, followed by 4.7 thousand by the Information and Publishing Prosecution, and 4.5 thousand by the Public Prosecution's Office. 4.2 thousand complaints and cases were registered by Farwaniya Prosecution, and more than 3.7 thousand complaints and cases were registered by Juvenile Prosecution.
The Court of Plenary had the highest number of registered cases, exceeding 356 thousand. With a significant margin, the Court of Appeal registered 28 thousand cases, followed by the Family Court of Plenary with 25.4 thousand, the Court of Cassation with 15.9 thousand, and finally the Family Court of Appeal with 6.7 thousand.
According to Ministry of Justice statistics, Kuwaiti courts handle an average of 2,460 cases daily over the past nine months.
