Kuwait Sentences Sister Killer To Death

Local media reported that Kuwaiti prosecutors found a man guilty of murdering his sister and sentenced him to death, prompting outrage across the country.

She complained to the police in the area of Taima in central Kuwait that her 35-year-old brother had detained her at the family home for two months.

Police responded by going to the house, meeting her brother and asking how she was doing. Local media reported that the man went into the home, killed his sister with a knife, then returned with the weapon and turned himself in to police.

Kuwaitis were reported to have been the killers and victims.

Domestic violence in Kuwait has surged in recent years, precipitating online fury and a call for protecting women. "Taima Crime" was the trending hashtag at the time.
