Kuwait Parliament Speaker Underlines Fighting Corruption

National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Ali Al-Ghanim on Wednesday underlined that anti-corruption is the responsibility of the two parliaments and stressed the importance of boosting integrity concepts. Al-Ghanim, speaking to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) after inaugurating a workshop themed "Arab parliamentarians against corruption" at the assembly building, welcomed Arab legislators participating in the workshop, that is mainly about battling corruption as first priority. The parliamentary workshop, scheduled today (Wednesday) and Thursday, groups members of shura councils and parliaments, said member of the Kuwaiti National Assembly Dr. Nasser Al-Sane, in a statement to "Al-Dostour" news network.

The workshop is organized in cooperation with the National Endowment for Democracy (NED) and several organizations in Kuwait, such as Kuwait Transparency Society (KTS), he said. The workshop, organized by the Arab Region Parliamentarians Against Corruption (ARPAC), aims to focus on the United Nations Millennium Development Goals.
