The municipality has warned owners of private and model homes not to turn their basements into warehouses. This comes after noticing a trend of people renting out basements for storage after basements in commercial properties were evacuated to fix legal issues.

Mohammed Al-Mutairi, spokesperson for Kuwait Municipality, warned against using home basements for profit due to safety risks. Ads seeking to rent basements at high rates in residential areas have raised concerns.

Storing flammable materials and toxic gases in residential basements violates municipal regulations. Municipality teams are conducting regular inspections to enforce these rules and prevent misuse of residential spaces.
