Kuwait Has 35 ‘osteoporosis’ Clinics

The President of the Kuwaiti Osteoporosis Association, Dr. Nadia Al-Ali said there are 35 osteoporosis clinics in primary health care centers in Kuwait.

In a statement to Al-Jarida, Al-Ali pointed out that the association organized courses through which a number of primary care physicians are trained and qualified to establish clinics specialized in osteoporosis in primary healthcare centers, pointing out that the association has trained about 40 doctors who are distributed in 35 health centers in the Capital Health District, 7 in the Hawally Health District, 5 in the Farwaniya Health District, in addition to 4 centers in the Ahmadi Health District.

She said the Kuwait Osteoporosis Association plans to hold the third session next January, while at the same time stressing the importance of this step to strengthen prevention and early detection of this silent disease, which may contribute to reducing fracture rates associated with fragility. Al-Ali revealed that a health awareness exhibition will be held on the occasion of the World Osteoporosis Day in the Avenues Mall, from October 20 to 22.
