Kuwait Government Implements 'Open Door' Policy To Enhance Citizen Interaction

01 July 2024 Kuwait

In alignment with directives from His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the Kuwaiti government has embraced an "open door" policy aimed at fostering greater trust and accessibility between state officials and citizens, while also improving public service delivery.

Under this initiative, physical bureaucratic barriers have been eliminated to facilitate easier access for nationals. Citizens can now request meetings with top officials through the government's "Tawasul System" available on the smart service platform "Sahel."

During a session held on May 19, the cabinet emphasized the importance of enabling citizens to conduct transactions seamlessly at ministries and other government entities.

The digital "Tawasul System" enables citizens to swiftly submit queries and complaints, thereby enhancing transparency and trust between the government and the public.

Amer Al-Ajmi, head of the local affairs sector and government spokesperson, highlighted that this policy reflects the leadership's commitment to transparency and efficiency. He emphasized that the government aims to build confidence by providing a transparent mechanism to expedite solutions to various issues.

The smart service platform covers all ministries involved in utilities and public services, aiming to streamline processes and reduce bureaucracy. Meetings with ministers, deputies, or undersecretaries can be requested, with each department setting terms and durations as needed.

Ministries have already affirmed their accessibility via the online service, with several ministers issuing directives to address citizen concerns and enhance service efficiency at governmental departments.
