Kuwait Aspires To Be Active Aviation Center, Says Official
Kuwait through its new visionary schemes seeks to be an active hub for air transportation for passengers and cargo, affirmed Directorate General of Civil Aviation Chairman Sheikh Salman Sabah Al-Salem Al-Humoud Al- Sabah on Wednesday.
Sheikh Salman, in a statement marking first commercial flight by Kuwait Airways to Dubai via T-4 terminal, said the new passenger terminal would boost performance and services and contribute to the efforts to empower the young citizens with master technology – in addition to securing non-oil revenues He expressed hope that the new operations would turn into “a qualitative step forward for the Kuwaiti civil aviation, the passengers, visitors and services.”
In the next months, new facilities will open at the new building; namely a free market, restaurants in addition to other services, Sheikh Salman said, noting that running the new terminal by a foreign operator is a new experience “which we hope will prove successful.” He devoted the achievement to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al- Jaber Al-Sabah, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah.
Elaborating, he said that the state launched significant investments in the civil aviation sector over the past 10 years, noting substantial existence of the air services for accomplishing Kuwait Vision 2035. For his part, KAC Chairman Yousef Al- Jassem congratulated the Kuwaiti leaders and people on launching the first commercial flight to Dubai following the promotional one to Bahrain.
The new flight has been carried out in coordination with the civil aviation and the Korean company, Incheon, tasked with running the terminal, he said, affirming the KAC readiness to reach the target; 92 flights per day. “We hope through the new terminal to achieve our goals amid the fiery competition facing us in the world of aviation and cargo,” he said.
