Keeping Street Vendors Off The Streets

05 April 2022 Kuwait

Fahad Al-Qarifa, Director of the Jahra Municipality Branch's Hygiene and Road Works Department, announced that an integrated plan has been developed to pursue street vendors during Ramadan and that inspectors will be deployed in two shifts — morning and evening — in front of public markets, malls, and main streets.

According to Al-Qarifa, the Municipality is following all legal procedures, including seizure of the vehicle, confiscation of assets; destruction of foodstuffs, seizure of other materials, issuance of a citation against the seller, and in some situations, expatriates may be deported.

According to a reliable source, bedouin will be sent to the Ministry of Interior for prosecution, especially since the bulk of people caught in this category lack a civil card or identity.
