Jobs Hope In Oil Sector
One thousand five hundred and thirty-eight job vacancies are on offer with the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) during fiscal 2020/2021, as part of the budget that was approved last week by the Budgets and Final Account Committee of the National Assembly, reports Al-Anba daily quoting a reliable source. The source said the number the KPC and its subsidiaries will employ is 22,300, an increase of 0.5 percent over what was estimated during the previous fiscal year, noting currently the oil sector employs 20,700 employees.
The source mentioned the Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) employs the largest number of employees (about 11,500), has 214 vacancies and will create 417 new jobs, bringing the total workforce of the company to 12,180. As for the Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC), it hires 6,300 workers, has 710 vacancies, while 205 jobs will be abolished, bringing the total workforce in the company to 6,800. Speaking of the Petrochemical Industries Company (PIC), the source mentioned that the number of jobs occupied by the company is 337 and it has 228 vacancies. The company will cancel 140 job designations during the current year, bringing the total workforce to 425 employees.
