In Kuwait, a Syrian expatriate reportedly jumped to his death from a six-story building, local media reported. Kuwait is reporting a rise in suicides among its residents.

According to a security source, investigators found that the man lived on the sixth floor of the building where he jumped down, according to police.

A second Asian housemaid was hospitalized after attempting to ingest a detergent before drinking poison, reported Al Anba.

It was reported that the anonymous woman was being questioned at the hospital for suspected suicide attempt after she was put under guard.

A series of suicides and suicide attempts have been reported in Kuwaiti media in recent months.

Approximately 4.6 million Kuwaitis, mostly foreigners, are believed to have committed 41 suicides last year, according to official statistics.

Expatriates who attempt suicide in Kuwait are facing deportation, according to Kuwaiti sources.

A source from the Interior Ministry told Al Qabas newspaper that clear instructions had been sent to security officers about how to handle these cases firmly.
