Icsg Starts Ration Distribution Drive For Needy Indian Community Members
Under the guidance of the Embassy of India Kuwait, ICSG (Indian Community Support Group) which was formed recently to respond to the basic and essential needs of the Indian Community in Kuwait kick started a ration distribution drive for the Hawalli governorate with a symbolic ceremony at the Indian community senior school in Salmiya on Tuesday, 5 May 2020.
Welcoming the gathering the chief coordinator of the Community coordination Suresh K P welcomed all the representatives of the invited associations and thanked them for their social service work and appealed to participate wholeheartedly in this ration distribution drive initiated by ICSG.
On behalf of the ICSG committee members Rajpal Tyagi briefed the attendees on reaching out and providing relief to the section of the community who have been badly impacted by the pandemic. The ration kit which is distributed free of charge to the needy has basic food supplies that will help people to feed themselves during the period of unemployment while staying indoors. Tyagi also praised the good work Indian associations were doing in helping their fellow countrymen and encouraged them to continue with the good work.
Committee member Dr. Amir also spoke during this brief event, commenting on current situation he said, The COVID 19 pandemic has affected all sections of the community and the need of the hour is to come together collectively to identify and address sections which require immediate help to alleviate their suffering, he also advised to maintain safety while doing the distribution work.
Members from the committee Amitabh Ranjan, second secretary Indian embassy, Rajpal Tyagi, Jatinder Suri, Reaven D’Souza and Anant Kapadia handed over kits in a symbolic gesture to Indian association members who were present.
Representative from various communities from Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra, Telangana, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Assam, Rajasthan, Kashmir, UP , Delhi and Bengal states attended the event where all health protocols including social distancing rules were adhered to.
Last week the committee distributed food kits in Mangaf to various associations in that area.
So far a total of 1000 kits have been handed over for delivery by ICSG with thousands more being prepared for delivery. ICSG calls upon needy people to go online and register their requirement on the dedicated website http://icsgkuwait.org/. This scheme is open to all needy Indians living in Kuwait.
