High Rate Of Driving Without A License In Kuwait
According to Al-Rai daily, the Traffic and Operations Sector of the Ministry of Interior organized security campaigns in four regions - Khaitan, Shuwaikh Industrial Area, Kabd and Al-Raqqa - to control reckless driving and apprehend traffic law violators. Under the supervision and presence of Major General Jamal Al-Sayegh, Undersecretary of the Traffic and Operations Sector in the Ministry, the campaigns were organized upon the instructions of the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense and Acting Minister of Interior Sheikh Talal Al-Khaled.
Additionally, the Khaitan traffic department issued 800 direct violations, along with arrests of expatriates driving without licenses, as well as other violations related to vehicles. Brigadier Khaled Mahmoud, Assistant Director of the Department of Planning, Research, Coordination, Follow-up and Education in the Traffic Sector, attended the campaign. All entrances and exits to Khaitan were cordoned off during the campaign. According to Brigadier General Khaled Mahmoud, the violators were monitored, especially reckless drivers and those who made annoying noises and shaded the windows of their vehicles. He noted driving a vehicle without a valid driver's license is one of the most prevalent violations monitored.
During the campaign, 14 Asians who violated the residency law were arrested, including some who had been staying illegally for seven years, and five wanted vehicles, including one reported stolen, were seized. Shuwaikh Industrial Area was inspected by the General Traffic Department, represented by the Technical Affairs Department.
A traffic campaign conducted by the Al-Ahmadi Governorate Police Department in Al-Raqqa area resulted in 77 traffic violations, seven violations for making annoying noises, and one violation for not holding a driver's license. There were serious traffic violations in Kabd as a result of the campaign, which included driving vehicles that did not meet safety standards. Brigade General Mishaal Al-Suwaiji, Director of the Technical Inspection Department, said 940 direct violations were recorded and 100 administrative vehicles were seized for deterioration and inefficiency, as well as a number of drivers who did not possess valid driving licenses were arrested.
