Health Ministry Reiterates Coordination With Gcc For Low Cost Medications
The Ministry of Health has stressed keenness on continuous coordination with the other GCC member states to provide effective and low-cost medications through unifying drug registration.
Assistant Undersecretary for Legal Affairs at the Ministry of Health, Mahmoud Abdul-Hadi added in a statement that they are hosting on Sunday the 79th meeting of the Gulf Central Committee for Drug Registration (GCCDR).
The three-day meeting aims to enhance coordination among the GCC countries in international drug registration, he said. Abdul-Hadi noted that the GCC-DR had updated the registration regulations to cope with the recent relevant developments on the international scene. He said that the GCC-DR main mission includes unifying the drug registration systems and procedures, in addition to consolidating the pan-GCC coordination in the field.
Meanwhile, Chairman of the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) Ali Mohammed Thunayan Al-Ghanim has stressed the vital role of the Federation of Chambers of the Gulf Cooperation Council (FCGCC) for connecting economic of the member states. Al-Ghanim, who is also FCGCC chairman, told KUNA that the federation plays a significant role in designing the economic policies on the Gulf, Arab and international scenes.
The remarks were made on the sidelines of the FCGCC meeting in Doha, Qatar. The FCGCC’s role is also essential for activating and supporting the resolutions taken by the GCC Supreme Council for further enhancing pan-GCC economic links and cooperation, he said. On the FCGCC meeting, he said that they had discussed a multitude of common issues, focusing on joint investments and means of boosting trade among the member states. Referring to the Justice Against Sponsors of Terrorism Act (JASTA) recently passed by the US Congress, Al-Ghanim said that Kuwait had adopted discussing it with the GCC economic leaderships, to conclude a vision and submit it to the FCGCC secretariat. The meeting agreed to issue a statement on JASTA over the coming few days, he noted.
Meanwhile, under Kuwait’s presidency the FCGCC will make further efforts to promote economic and trade cooperation among the GCC member states. Today’s discussions also addressed various issues related to the private sector and FCGCC reports, in addition to the federation’s work program for 2017.
