Dr. Ahmed Al-Awadi, Minister of Health, announced that an electronic link between 117 primary health care centers was established to help organize and control medicine dispensing, prevent waste, and link the four hospitals - Jahra, Farwaniya, Jaber Al-Ahmed, and Mubarak Al-Kabeer, reports Al-Rai daily. In his remarks, Al-Awadi stressed the importance of drug security, stating that the ministry is working around the clock to provide medicines.

In addition, he said that the warehouse management and health officials have formed multiple committees to work around the clock to provide medicines, indicating that he and senior ministry officials visited six public hospitals, including general surgery and accident departments, to learn how medicines are dispensed in emergency pharmacies and whether alternatives are available.

He urged patients and visitors to ask for alternatives if they have difficulty finding medicines in pharmacies, primary health care centers and clinics, stressing the Ministry of Health's commitment to increase stocks. Health Minister affirmed the ministry's commitment to developing robotic surgery services to improve quality, reduce side effects, and improve performance.

The Ministry of Health has carried out 800 robot-assisted surgeries, 300 of them in the past three years, Al-Awadi said, adding that they are the future of medical surgery. Taking the opportunity to thank the committee responsible for preparing and organizing this conference, the minister stressed that scientific and knowledge development must continue in order to serve the country and its citizens. In the meantime, the Central Agency for Public Tenders has approved a list of 14 medicines that the Ministry of Health will be permitted to purchase, as well as two requests for direct contracts, as these medicines are needed in all hospitals and health centers, reports Al-Rai.

It requested medications to treat cancer, digestion, respiratory diseases, asthma, skin diseases, neurological diseases, ear diseases, and rheumatism, as well as children's nutrients and antibiotics.

Dr. Ahmed Al-Awadi, Minister of Health, has issued a decision regarding medical prescriptions for narcotic substances and preparations. According to the decision, Clause 1 of Article One of Ministerial Resolution No. 383 of 1983 is amended as follows: "The prescription that is produced to the pharmacy must be the original and two copies.". The original and the copy must be handed over to the pharmacist. After this, the pharmacist keeps the original and returns the copy to the patient duly signed and stamped, while the second copy remains with the prescription issuing authority.
