Hackers Find New Ways To Steal Vital Info
Ministry of Interior has warned citizens and expatriates about cyber criminals hacking accounts and other personal banking information via social media platforms, especially WhatsApp, reports Al- Seyassah daily.
In this context, acting Director General of Public Relations and Security Information in the Ministry of Interior Brigadier Tawheed Al-Kandari said hackers have upgraded and created new methods of stealing vital banking information, urging citizens and expatriates to be cautious of messages and links sent to them by unknown sources.
He stressed the need for the public to appreciate their vulnerability and avoid sites that are not trustworthy and desist from sharing files with unknown individuals, noting acts of this nature prompt hackers to steal passwords to access personal data.
He also stated the importance of changing passwords from time to time, and if necessary, to avoid using the same password more than once.
Al-Kandari called on the general public or victims of blackmail and internet fraud to call 25660142, stressing the General Department Cyber Crimes is keen on taking the relevant steps to arrest the perpetrators. He reiterated the department is endowed with highly-qualified and welltrained system administrators capable of tracing and referring those involved in cyber crimes to the Public Prosecution
