Government Takes Measures To Cut Down Expenses

The Ministry of Finance has succeeded in saving ‘first part’ of the first billion for fiscal 2021-2022 budget in expenditures through the implementation of the Cabinet’s decision to reduce 10% of the ‘expenditure item’.

Informed sources told Al-Anba the Finance Ministry measures to save KD 800,000 has been adopted, and the remaining measures are now being adopted to provide for saving the KD 200,000 revealing that efforts will continue to reduce the entire 10%, which is equivalent to KD 2.3 billion.

The sources stressed the one billion dinars come from the expenditure item only, without prejudice to salaries item, rewards for excellent work, promotions, marriage support and goods.

In response to a question about the correctness of canceling employment support payments for citizens working in the private sector whose salaries exceed KD 3,500 instead of the first proposal to cancel employment support for those whose salaries exceed KD 3,000 the sources said no decision has been taken in this regard, saying the same applies to citizens working in the private sector who have reached the age of 65, and no decision has been issued to deprive them of employment support.
