Fraudsters Steal 3,000 Dinars From Expat Despite Ministry Warnings

18 November 2023 Crime News

In spite of a warning issued by Kuwait's Interior Ministry about fraudulent activities carried out by individuals from outside Kuwait, who pose as security personnel or bank representatives over the phone or through electronic communication platforms, one expat fell victim to such deceptive operations, reports Al-Anba daily.

The expatriate filed a complaint with the Farwaniya police station alleging he was robbed of three thousand dinars. The caller claimed to be a bank employee and requested a copy of his bank card and civil ID. A short period of time later, the victim received multiple messages indicating withdrawals totaling 3 thousand dinars.

Upon contacting the bank, it was confirmed that no employees solicit such information from customers. The expatriate had, indeed, become a victim of a scam orchestrated by external criminal networks. For further investigation, a case has been filed with the relevant authorities.
