Fourth And Fifth Eurofighter Typhoons Arrive In Kuwait

02 April 2022 Kuwait

The Kuwait Air Force's third and fourth Eurofighter Typhoons arrived in the country last week. The fighter planes are part of a larger deal from Leonardo, an Italian multinational corporation specializing in aerospace, military, and security, for a total of 28 aircraft to be delivered to the Kuwait Air Force during a phased delivery period.

The new Eurofighters' ferry flight from Italy to Kuwait was made possible by the Italian Air Force's crucial help, which ensured the 'Air to Air Refueling trail.' This was accomplished by a complex operational activity involving one KC-767A tanker from the 14th Wing, Pratica di Mare, of the Italian Air Force.

"I was quite happy last month seeing Eurofighters fly over Kuwait City during the National Day celebration," said Guido Sibona, Vice President of Leonardo's Eurofighter Program, speaking about the landing of the latest consignment of fighter jets. Today, I am equally delighted to watch the Kuwait Air Force's fleet grow as anticipated.

"We created and produced the most advanced Eurofighter Typhoons for the Kuwait Air Force in the entire European program." We are providing Kuwait with an exceptional air defense capability in collaboration with the Italian Air Force, and we have created state-of-the-art infrastructures to operate and maintain the entire fleet of 28 Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft."

The Eurofighter Kuwait Program is part of a larger and more in-depth partnership between the Italian Air Force and the Kuwait Air Force that includes operations, pilot training, and support. The Italian Air Force is also guaranteeing that the engineers and technicians who will support the Typhoon fleet's activities in Kuwait receive initial training in Italy.

Thanks to the innovative AESA (Active Electronically Scanned Array) radar that is mounted on the Eurofighter Typhoons for Kuwait, Leonardo also plays a vital role in the evolution of the Eurofighter. The aircraft's performance and competitiveness are improved thanks to this sophisticated radar. Furthermore, Eurofighter has a well-defined schedule of technology updates and improvements that ensures its competitiveness during its entire career.

Constantly expanding technologies improve the operational effectiveness, survivability, and efficient management of these aircraft, both onboard and in the context of logistical support. The Eurofighter program is a cornerstone in the development of European aerospace and defense technologies, providing technical leadership to the companies involved and ensuring competitiveness for many future programs.
