Former Minister Looting Public Funds, Court Hearing On April 23
The Court of Ministers has adjourned to April 23 the first trial session of the case filed against a former minister who is accused of looting public funds, forgery and other charges. The court also has set the session of March 12 for the trial of the former minister of Interior Sheikh Khaled Al-Jarrah who was accused of forgery because he submitted false data to one of the investigation authorities, which resulted in the case being reserved for defendants in a case. During the court session, the minister was presented with his defense team. He denied the accusations against him, and requested an adjournment of the session to photocopy the documents.
It is noteworthy that the former minister transferred two industrial plots, one when he was an MP in the National Assembly, and the other after he assumed the ministerial portfolio. He had registered the two plots under the name of a retired officer to hide the real ownership of the plot. He also abused his position to loot public funds. This issue involving the former minister was discovered after the retired officer, who was referred with him in the same case to the Court of Ministers, sold one of the two plots and transferred the amount of KD 700,000 to the account of the accused minister.
