Former Interior Ministry Public Relations Director Sentenced To 30 Years For Embezzlement

The Criminal Court headed by Judge Mutab Al Ardi has issued prison sentences in the interior hospitality case, ranging from two years to 30 years. It also ruled to confiscate funds for the mixed crime of “money laundering” or resulting from the case or the sums obtained and real estate, in addition to dismissing all the accused from public office and confiscating documents. It also obligated the defendants to return the embezzled sums and penalize them twice the amount.

The court, headed by Counselor Miteb Al-Ardi, ruled that Adel Al-Hashash be imprisoned for 30 years with labor and enforceable on charges of misappropriating public money and facilitating the seizure of public funds and fine him and others KD 42 million and fined them double the amount.

The court also ruled that Sheikh Ahmed Al-Khalifa be imprisoned for a period of two years with a suspension of enforcement on a KD 5,000 bail.

The court issued various penalties against the remaining defendants.

The court ruled that the fourth defendant, Waleed Al-Sanea, will be sentenced to 17 years in prison for the charges of facilitating the seizure of Ministry of Interior funds and money laundering resulting from the crime of seizure.

The fifth defendant, Abdullah Al-Hammadi, was sentenced to 17 years in prison for two counts of facilitating the appropriation of the Ministry of Interior funds and of laundering funds resulting from the crime of seizure.

To punish the accused Hamad Al-Tuwaijri and Abdullah Al-Mashari for a period of 15 years each for what was assigned to them for the connection.

In the details of the fine for the defendants, Adel Al-Hashash, Iqbal Al-Khalfan and Waleed Al-Sanea jointly were obligated to pay KD 31,098,713 and fined them double the amount.

It also ruled to compel Hashash and Al-Sanea jointly to return the sum of 10,997,350 dinars and to fine them double the amount for laundering the money obtained from the crime.
