10 October 2023 Health

In the first week following the launch of the annual vaccination campaign against seasonal influenza and pneumococcal pneumonia, there was a high turnout from all age groups. In 50 preventive healthcare centers around the country, about 15,000 people received seasonal influenza vaccinations and 2,000 received pneumococcal pneumonia vaccinations.

Vaccination rates are 45 to 50 percent for those at risk, according to informed health sources, which include asthmatic and chronic respiratory disease patients, smokers, diabetics, employees of the Ministry of Health, and morbidly obese individuals. The average number of vaccination beneficiaries in each health region ranges between 2,000 to 3,000.

Since the COVID-19 pandemic, public awareness of immunization has been raised, resulting in a high turnout for vaccination this year. Several joint activities and events will be organized by the Ministry of Health to raise awareness of the importance of vaccination, according to sources. In coordination with various institutions and companies, specialized health teams will conduct field tours and organize vaccination campaigns.
