First Verdict In The Name Of HH Amir Sheikh Mishal: 2 Expats Get 5 And 10 Years Imprisonment
Counselor Nasr Al-Heid led the Court of Appeal in delivering its inaugural verdict on behalf of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. The appeal determined a 5-year imprisonment for an expatriate, employed in the Public Prosecution, on charges of manipulating judicial rulings and inputting inaccurate data to release defendants. It was intended to deceive them into believing that favorable rulings were issued in exchange for bribes.
The court also sentenced another expat to 10 years in prison for falsifying and tampering with blood samples used for chronic disease analysis. This illegal activity was carried out in exchange for a bribe from expatriates involved in residency transactions.
As a result, the court upheld the previous ruling after the Appeals court had earlier sentenced three of them (the main accused employees) to 10 years of hard labor in their presence. It is with great pleasure that the Supreme Judicial Council congratulates His Highness the Amir on upholding the values of reform, purity, and justice.
