Fines In Cemetery Fight
The Misdemeanor Court imposed fines on those involved in a fight at Sulaibikhat Cemetery, including the assault on Parliament Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim. It also ordered referral of the civil case to the relevant civil court. The court fined one of the suspects identified as Nayef Al- Marzouq KD75 dinars for the charge of insult, KD150 for assault and battery and KD150 for exchanging blows with the other suspects. Five other suspects, including the brothers of the speaker — Khaled and Fahd Al-Ghanim — were fined KD 150.
The Public Prosecution charged Al-Marzouq with beating Marzouq and Fahd Al-Ghanim, in addition to uttering insulting expressions that could damage the reputation of the victim; while the other defendants were charged with inflicting grave injuries on Al-Marzouq. It has been reported Fahd Al-Ghanim attacked Al-Marzouq upon the arrival of the four other suspects in the cemetery.
