Female Expat Teachers Have No Right To Receive Housing Grants If Their Husbands Receive The Same
Concerning the enquiry of Ministry of Education about granting housing allowance to female expatriate teachers whose husbands work at the Mosques Sector of Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, Civil Service Commission (CSC) affirmed that these teachers should not be granted housing allowance because Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs provides houses for their husbands at a low rent of KD 50 per month, reports Al-Rai daily.
Assistant Undersecretary for Legal Affairs at Ministry of Education Nahla Bin Naji said these female teachers have no right to continue receiving housing allowance, stressing the need for them to return the monthly allowance they had been receiving since October 13, 2016.
She insisted that female teachers do not have the right to receive housing allowance if their husbands receive housing allowance or stay in houses allocated to them by their workplace irrespective of whether they work in the public sector, private sector or for a joint venture.
CSC dismissed the request of Ministry of Education to renew the contracts of 55 Syrian teachers who reached retirement age of 65 years. Director of Human Resources Department at the ministry Saoud Al-Juwaiser explained that CSC refused to renew the contracts for those teachers, as it had approved to renew their contracts last year. CSC approves to renew the contracts of those who reached retirement age only once irrespective of their nationality.
These teachers were working as per the item that allows seeking help of experienced teachers for subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, English, Mathematics and Arabic. The ministry can do nothing for them this year as it is committed to the decisions of the Cabinet in this regard.
