Fall In Filipino Workers, 27000 Left Kuwait – Indians Still Tops The List
The number of Filipino workers has dropped in the country over the past year, according to the Central Administration of Statistics, reports Al- Qabas daily. Analysts speculated that the cause is related to the maids’ crisis that erupted last year. The total number (males and females) declined in the same period from 243,400 to 216,200, or 27,000 Filipinos who left the country in 9 months –12 percent of the total. The Philippines laborers in the country rank fourth in number.
At the top sits the Indians with 889,000, followed by Egyptians 484,000 and Bangladeshis 271,000. The statistics confirmed that the total household employment at the end of the third quarter of last year was 689,000, an increase of about 9,000 compared to the end of 2017, and distributed equally between males and females. Four nationalities – Indian, Filipino, Bangladeshi and Sri Lankan – account for 89 percent of total domestic or private sector employment in Kuwait.
