Eye On Isles For Morals - Mp
For the first time in 11 fiscal years, the Public Authority for Industry (PAI) recorded revenues high enough for it to allocate 90 percent of its earnings for the national treasury, says parliamentary Budgets and Final Accounts Committee Chairman MP Adnan Abdulsamad.
He disclosed the authority’s 2017/2018 final account indicate expenditures on downward trajectory, citing as an example the expenses on Shadadiya Industrial Area which reached only KD 1.8 million out of the KD 40 million budget allocated for this purpose.
In view of the video clips of young adults practicing socially unacceptable behaviors on an island which went viral on various social media platforms, MP Majed Al-Mutairi urged the Coast Guard to intensify its efforts in securing and monitoring islands throughout the country in order to track down those who violate cultural and social norms.
He said such activities are unacceptable as they contravene the Kuwaiti and Islamic cultural structure that the entire nation proudly upholds. On the other hand, Secretary General of the National Democratic Alliance Bashaar Al-Sayegh pointed out that some Islamic MPs’ attacks on civil society institutions are considered civil terrorism acts, considering these institutions have significantly contributed to the betterment of society.
In a press statement, Al-Sayegh said these MPs are attempting to cover up their political failures by creating imaginary conflicts with these institutions despite their claims of protecting social rights and freedom. He believes these MPs are using this platform to obtain seats in the National Assembly. “Once the parliamentary seats are obtained, they try their best to uphold this idea; but their true colors come out whenever they go against anything that does not fall under their definition of social rights and freedom. They terrorize these institutions through their closed-mindedness and extremism,” he concluded.
