In the context of an expanded initiative to monitor and address violations in the Al-Ahmadi Governorate, Kuwait Municipality has expanded its campaign against bachelors residing in private housing to the Fahaheel area. The campaign, led by the head of the Emergency and Rapid Intervention Team, Khaled Al-Fadhli, resumed in Fahaheel, where warnings were issued to cut off electricity supply to non-compliant residences that continued to accommodate bachelors despite previous notifications.
In this endeavor, representatives from the Ministry of Electricity, Public Authority for Manpower, Environment Public Authority, and Ministry of Interior joined forces. Al-Fadhli stated that the Emergency and Rapid Intervention Team of the Ahmadi Municipality Branch embarked on a field tour, as per the directives of Eng. Saud Al-Dabbous, Acting Director of the Municipality. The team was tasked with inspecting locations identified by supervisory teams as having violations related to singles housing in the Fahaheel area, reports Al Rai. A committee dedicated to monitoring such violations was formed in May, and inspections have been ongoing for the past two weeks in various areas of Al-Ahmadi Governorate.
According to Al-Fadhli, the current procedure involves issuing warnings to property owners regarding the eviction of bachelors, along with building warnings within the property boundaries. Violations such as improper construction and encroachment on state property, including the unauthorized building of Kirby rooms, have been observed. If property owners fail to cooperate within the warning period and the bachelors continue to violate regulations, records of both the bachelors and building violations will be issued. Representatives from the Environment Agency will inspect sewage systems to identify any illegal connections, while electricity representatives will implement partial electricity cutoffs.
He thanked citizens who report violations and encouraged them to submit reports via WhatsApp or the municipal hotline (139), emphasizing that legal measures would be taken accordingly.
In addition, strict actions will be taken against expatriate investors who rent properties from owners and then sublet them to other bachelors. Such individuals will face legal consequences, including deportation from the country. If bachelors are found living in non-compliant premises, the Manpower Authority will address their cases and hold their sponsors accountable.
