Engineers Blame Poor Planning For Housing Crises
The housing issue is one of the top priorities of Kuwaiti citizens, according to engineers, pointing out that many Kuwaiti families suffer from this problem even though Kuwait is a wealthy country.
According to a local Arabic newspaper quoting Engineering sources, many young people avoid moving to new cities because they lack distinguished services, but others claim that new cities have become a reality due to the high prices and rents in the old areas, which made many citizens accept them compared to the past, since the state has shown an interest in highway networks over the past five years.
As a solution to the housing crisis, they emphasized the provision of land for the construction of new cities and the involvement of the private sector in their development. A mortgage law has been approved, additional liquidity has been provided to the credit bank for housing requests, and new solutions are being developed to reduce rents.
Some Kuwaiti families would prefer to live in a separate house as a solution to the housing crisis, and vertical housing is viewed as unacceptable by some. On the other hand, vertical housing is incompatible with the long-term needs and privacy of citizens, and is unacceptable to them. A number of citizens now live in buildings with excellent locations and high quality services, after this type of housing was considered unacceptable in the past.
