Emergency Numbers Announced For Labor Violations
Spokesperson for the Public Relations and Media Department at the Public Authority for Manpower (PAM) Aseel Al-Mazeid announced emergency numbers as part of efforts to tackle visa trading, and labor infractions in the Labor Protection Sector. These numbers are 55629845 for the Emergency Inspection Team to request inspections of certain areas, and 99175272 for labor complaints dealing with unfair labor practices, and related violations.
In a statement, Al-Mazeid revealed the inspection teams during their tour of areas unearthed 20 violations recently; eight in Mubarak Al-Kabeer Governorate, one in
the Capital Governorate and 11 in Hawally Governorate. The inspections teams are part of Government efforts to deal with labor injustices, visa trading and human trafficking.
Only recently, Al Rai daily reported huge violations as a result of the lockdown in Mahboula area and the negligence of the municipality by turning a blind eye to the number and type of violations taking place in the area.
Al Rai daily reported that buildings have been transformed into company camps for bachelors while car parks in the basements of buildings have been converted to warehouses, violating all safety and security requirements. Moreover, buildings which are housing bachelors are overcrowded and do not comply with the regulations set by the government.
As a result of these violations Block 2 in Mahboula is in bad condition with garbage scattered, company buses parked in front and behind buildings, overcrowding parking areas and stench of gutter smell. With warehouses in building basements there are daily visits by trucks for loading and offloading materials that is a hazard to the residents of the area.
Citizens in the area have appealed to the government to remove the violations, raid these buildings and hold the owners of unlicensed warehouses accountable, reported Al Rai daily.
