Election Rumor Mongers Will Not Be Tolerated
The Ministry of Information confirmed that as per the governing rules it will not hesitate to deal firmly with the media and electronic news channels that broadcast rumors regarding amending the election law related to citizenship matters. Anybody in violation will be referred to the Public Prosecution in accordance with the applicable laws.
In a statement to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Information for the Press Lafi Al-Subaie, said in a statement that in confirmation of what was stated by the official government spokesman, Amer Al-Ajmi, regarding rumors of amending the election law related to citizenship matters, the ministry will not hesitate to deal firmly with the media that spreads rumors.
He added that the media had monitored 26 media violations in this regard, indicating that legal measures would be taken against them, noting that the media’s rumor mongering is unacceptable, especially those that affect national unity among the people of the country and are in violation of the National Unity Law.
He stressed the necessity of not spreading rumors and working to strengthen national harmony by relying only on official sources to circulate news.
