Egyptian Teacher Referred To Court In Maltreatment, Death Of Student
The Public Prosecutor’s Office yesterday decided to refer the Egyptian teacher Najla Mohammad to the Criminal Court in the case of the death of a student, Issa Al-Balushi, reports Al-Anba daily.
The daily said the teacher was released last April without any guarantee. A source said the Prosecution has charged the accused on four counts – one of which led to the death.
The other charges include maltreatment of the child, abusing his father and his mother, which she had denied during a prosecutor’s investigation in April.
The source revealed that the Forensic reports and a report issued by the tripartite medical committee formed by the Ministry of Health, and the results of investigations carried out by the detectives had confirmed the natural death and lack of criminal suspicion.
However, the case was not shelved because of accounts of witnesses who said the boy was treated harshly by the teacher. The incident took place last February, when the child died in the family home after returning from the primary school of Amr ibn al-Aas in Al-Rawda and his parents pointed a finger of accusation at his teacher saying she treated the boy in a harsh manner and insulted him in spite of her knowledge of his health condition which led to health complications and death.
