Dr Nasser Al-ajmi Has Stressed The Need To Provide Full Protection In Cases Of Domestic Violence
The Director of the Rehabilitation and Evaluation Department at the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, Dr Nasser Al-Ajmi has stressed the need to provide full protection in cases of domestic violence by introducing special rehabilitation programs, reports Al-Rai daily. He revealed the formation of a committee comprising personnel from a number of ministries and government institutions to study the establishment of a house to accommodate prisoners’ families (women and children) in addition to the allocation of a direct line of communication to listen to such cases.
Al-Ajmi added, “The treatment of the problem of addiction and cases of domestic violence begins within the family.” He pointed to “the importance of having a facility that protects the abused child, especially from his relatives who are supposed to be his first source of protection.” As for the cases of recovering from addiction, Al-Ajmi said the Department is following up the cases of the deceased who had left the treatment center halfway. He went on to say at the moment there are 65 people who are being rehabilitated and are being followed by the administration according to a well thought-out plan as a social and humanitarian incubator concerned with the therapeutic, psychological and spiritual side. The aim is to continue recovery, confront the outside community and develop recovery by learning life skills, self-reliance, rehabilitating his mind and personality, and instilling confidence in his being able to reintegrate into society.
Al-Ajmi referred to the incubators of craft workshops in the reform institutions and similar institutions. He pointed out the administration’s endeavor is to approve certificates of the workshop by PAAET to engage in training in accordance with the needs of the labor market.
The following is the text of the speech: The Rehabilitation and Evaluation Department was established in 2012 and is one of the important departments of the Minister of Awqaf Sector. It is the only department in the ministry whose organizational decision stipulates the need to coordinate with the Ministries of Interior, Health, Affairs and Education.
The department serves as a social and humanitarian incubator that deals with the therapeutic, psychological and spiritual aspects. It aims to continue the recovery and prepares the addicts to face the outside society and contribute to the development of person by teaching him the skills, self reliance and rehabilitation. The idea of the project has so far been successful. The entrance to the facility is optional. This is the essence of its success. Before leaving the addiction treatment center, the person is informed of the existence of a mid-way home with the definition of his various services ranging from administrative, therapeutic, social and rehabilitation services provided by the home in order to continue recovery.
