Discussion Of 'hiking Rent' At Moe Meeting
Undersecretary Dr Ali Al-Yaqoub has set up a committee headed by Assistant Undersecretary for Financial Affairs Youssef Al-Najjar with directors of various departments as members, to work towards increasing rent for government buildings used by the private sector, to establish the investment value of school playgrounds and canteens, and to specify new fees that will be sent to the supervisory authorities for approval, reports Al-Rai daily citing a source from the educational sector.
According to the source, the committee will hold its first meeting soon to determine the fees for using school facilities and submit its report within three months; noting the rental fee for schools varies from one building to another depending on the number of classrooms. Non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and private entities have requested the use of school playgrounds in the evening; therefore, a mechanism is needed. The school canteens have presented many suggestions regarding their investment, as if they were exploited by Kuwait Flour Mills Company or managed by owners of small businesses, cooperative societies, or feeding machines.
Moreover, a government source confirms that government agencies will remain subordinate to ministers based on the latest decrees, reports Al-Qabas daily. To a question by the daily about whether new decrees requiring the transfer of government agencies and bodies would be issued, the source responded, "The subordination of the authorities will remain the same," explaining that they are assigned according to their portfolios.
